COVID-19 numbers constant in Durham; one new death

COVID-19’s presence is still lingering in Durham Region after the weekly report from the Region’s Health Department showed new cases slightly elevated at 211 and the number of outbreaks in institutions such as hospitals and long term care homes also up from eight to 10, with one of those outbreaks at Ajax-Pickering Hospital.

The number of patients in local hospitals with COVID dropped one to 36 (with three patients in intensive care) and the per cent positivity rate among those tested fell slightly to 8.7 per cent. The weekly incidence rate rose a touch to 28.8 per 100,000 population.

The number of deaths in the period from February 5-11 remained level with the previous week at one.
