COVID-19 map shows various new hotspots in Mississauga’s Cooksville area

COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Mississauga, with Peel Region identifying a number of census areas with a higher amount of cases.

The region’s interactive map was updated for the week of August 22 to 28, with some hotspots reporting rates of up to 157.5 per 100,000.

The map shows the highest cluster of hotspots in the Cooksville area, with most tracts in the area reporting rates of 51 to 100 per 100,000.

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of August 22 to 28, Peel reports 203 new cases in Mississauga and 446 new cases in the region overall.
