COVID-19: Hamilton reports just 14 new cases on Tuesday, lowest daily increase since last Fall

Hamilton is reporting 14 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday (June 8) — the lowest daily increase in 2021 so far.
The last time the daily count was below 20 was January 7 when the City reported 16 new cases and before that, the lowest number was last seen in October, according to Public Health data shared on the City of Hamilton website.
The number of active cases in the community is down to 374 and no new deaths associated with the virus have been reported.
There are currently 13 active outbreaks in the city, down from more than 40 just two weeks ago.
All indications suggest that Hamilton is on its way out of the third wave, with a reproductive rate of .89 and a 6.1 per cent positivity rate and a seven-day average of just 48 cases.
Hamilton hospitals are currently treating 54 people with confirmed cases of the virus, again, a number that has seen a slow decline in recent days.

Meanwhile, Ontario is reporting 469 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, as case counts continue to trend downward, marking the fewest number of daily cases since late September.
On the vaccination front, Hamilton continues to push ahead with 366,969 administered locally as of Monday, accounting for approximately 66.8 per cent of eligible residents.
The City of Hamilton has set a goal to vaccinate 75 per cent of the city’s total eligible adult population.
