COVID-19 deaths up to 349 in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills

There is one new death from COVID-19 being reported Wednesday in Oakville.

That brings the number of people that have died from virus in Halton Region to 349.

Burlington has had the largest number of COVID-19 deaths with 122, followed by Oakville with 97. Milton has lost 64 people, while 66 have died in Halton Hills.

While the number of COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills, hospitalization numbers have remained stable.

Halton Region has 25 people in the hospital with COVID, that’s down one from the previous day’s numbers.

The Region is reporting 158 new cases across the region.

Hospitalization numbers have actually decreased in Burlington, where the number of people has fallen from 12 to 11 yesterday.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is reporting 10 COVID-19 hospitalizations, the same as the day before.

Both Milton and Georgetown also have no change, each with two people hospitalized.

The Region’s acute occupancy rate has gone up three per cent to 102 per cent, while the ICE bed occupancy rate is also slightly up three per cent at 77 per cent.

COVID-19 wastewater surveillance shows numbers across the Region increasing since March.
