The countdown has officially begun for the New Year’s Eve festivities at Celebration Square in Mississauga.

After being put on a brief hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual holiday festivities in Mississauga’s downtown core are now in full swing.

That means that those who look forward to ringing in the new year at Celebration Square can expect this year’s in-person party to be completed with all the events and attractions they all remember.

From being cancelled in 2020 to dramatically changing plans last year, this party will mark the first complete New Year’s Eve celebration that the outdoor venue has hosted since Dec. 31, 2019.

From high-energy performances by international recording artists to opportunities to try different food items at the various food trucks, guests can expect the works this year before ending the evening with a fireworks show at midnight.

While additional details of this year’s New Year’s Eve party have yet to be revealed, City officials have said that the plans will be comparable to pre-pandemic times.

The free all-ages event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m.
