Police have taken a Brampton driver off the road after they say he was clocked travelling more than two times the speed limit in a 60 km/h zone.

Peel Regional Police say officers from the Road Safety Services team were out on patrol on Tuesday when they spotted a speeder.

The 21-year-old male driver from Brampton was going more than double the speed limit according to police, who say the driver was doing 151 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Police have impounded the man’s vehicle for a period of 14 days and his driver’s license has also been suspended for 30 days.

Police did not say if the driver has been charged, but drivers caught travelling 150 km/h or more can face stunt driving charges and fines of $9.75 per kilometre per hour over the speed limit.
