Stepped-up efforts by Peel Regional Police to investigate crimes in a Mississauga neighbourhood have led to several arrests.

Officers from the 12 Division Community Incident Response Team said on Monday Project Due Diligence focused on the area of Hurontario Street and Dundas Street following ongoing complaints about drug dealing, robberies, break-ins and other crimes.

Police said these issues, which have contributed to increased incidents involving violence, have had significant impacts on local businesses and community members in the busy area once considered Mississauga’s downtown.

“We recognized the significant impact that the lawless public behaviour of some individuals was having on our residents and local businesses in the Cooksville area. As a result, our newly launched 12 CIRT team initiated a project which resulted in numerous charges and these individuals being held accountable. The project also allowed us to build relationships with local residents and businesses to ensure we keep an open dialogue of the concerns they are facing,” said Superintendent Harry Dhillon, 12 Division Commander.

As a result of this project, seven people have been arrested and charged with multiple offences. Officers executed several search warrants which saw large quantities of illegal cannabis and suspected cocaine seized. Additionally, more than 50,000 dollars in currency were seized.

Kingsley Kelly, a 56-year-old man from Mississauga who was wanted for other offences, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Assault with a weapon

Kyle Williams, a 22-year-old man from Mississauga, was charged with the following:

Glenroy Neubie, a 35 year-old-man from Brampton, was  charged with the following:

John-Ross Harris, a 38-year-old-man from Mississauga, was charged with the following:

Amir Abuhmaid, a 25-year-old-man from Mississauga, was charged with the following:
