A 27-year-old Brampton woman is facing multiple criminal charges after she allegedly assaulted a Waterloo Regional Police officer during a foot patrol in Waterloo over the weekend.
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday (June 28) near Willis Way and King Street South, where an officer was attempting to enforce an offence under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
According to Waterloo Regional Police, the woman allegedly assaulted the officer, uttered threats to cause harm and resisted arrest. Investigators allege she also attempted to spit on the officer multiple times during the incident.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
The Brampton woman has been charged with assault with a weapon, three counts of assaulting a peace officer, four counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, obstructing police and having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place.
Police said the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Waterloo Regional Police have not released the woman’s name.
