Construction on Westchester Ave bridge today in St. Catharines

Westbound commuters driving over the Westchester Avenue bridge in St. Catharines today can expect a slowdown in their drive.

A construction crew appears to be paving the right-hand lane of the bridge that crosses over top of Highway 406 and have that side of the road narrowed down to one lane.

While we can’t find any construction news on the city website or warnings on social media, this does not appear to be a quick patch-up job as pylons are laid down for a lengthy stretch of the road.

That said, traffic flow seems fine though a St Catharines bus slowed to a crawl to get past the area where the workers are set up.

Local residents will remember this area was most recently worked on June to September 2019.
