Construction season is in full swing this week with several road closures starting across Durham.

A long-term rehabilitation project on Highway 401 will close ramps in stages between Bowmanville Ave. and Bennett Rd. starting July 11. The Ministry of Transportation is rehabilitating several structures along Highway 401.

The first closure is Liberty Street eastbound and westbound ramps.

The MTO will have signage posted to inform motorists of the closures.

In Oshawa, Taunton Road eastbound from Northbrook St. to Somerville St. will close from July 11 to July 15. The good news is this construction is for a multi-use path.

Also in Oshawa, there will be lane shifts and lane restrictions for road paving on Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) from Conlin Rd. to south of Winchester Rd. until July 15.

In Ajax, a long road reconstruction project will close Westney Road North from north of Taunton Road West to just south of the CP Rail Line from July 11 until Sept. 2. This closure is for the widening – from four lanes to five lanes — and reconstruction of Westney Road. The project will also include extending the sidewalk and the construction of a multi-use path from Rossland Rd. to Taunton Rd.
