Construction on a Burlington street could lead to some noise and traffic disruptions until May.

Metrolinx and Burlington Hydro are working together on the project which will see the removal of overheard electrical wires and have them buried underground.

The work will take place west of Cumberland Ave. at Fairview St. beginning this Friday (March 9) and is expected to continue until May 19.

Metrolinx says the work is needed to expand operations in the area for increased service.

The work will take place Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. but some weekend work is expected. Nearby residents can expect moderate noise and dust from the construction.

Pedestrians will not be impacted by the work immediately and access to driveways will always be maintained, according to Burlington Hydro,
