Residents are reminded to stay away from rivers and streams after this heavy rainfall.

The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority is advising residents and especially children to stay away from creeks and rivers, as well as bridges, culverts and dams after last night’s rain resulted in high water levels and slippery conditions along stream banks

As much as 400 millimetres of rain was expected last night and while no flooding was expected, officials are still warning of potentially dangerous conditions, especially near bridges and culverts.

This Water Safety Statement will be in effect through the end of day today, or until further notice. The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority will continue to monitor the conditions of the streams and will provide updates as required.
