Commercial vehicle carrying ‘dangerous goods’ on QEW in Oakville fails inspection

A driver of a truck pulled over Tuesday (May 2) on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville for being on their cellphone had more serious issues going on with their vehicle upon closer inspection.
Halton Regional Police Service Motor Vehicle Unit Cst. Marc Taraso alleges the driver was distracted holding a phone while transporting drums of dangerous good on his Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Taraso pulled the vehicle over and upon further inspection found numerous “dangerous” issues with the vehicle.
“On inspection, found the nine drums carrying flammable liquids was not secured/blocked/braced and (also discovered) a cracked main leaf,” Cst. Taraso said on Twitter.

A front placard was not also properly displayed on the vehicle, added the Halton police inspector.
The vehicle has been placed out of service and the driver has been charged.
