Stripes and colours are in style these days at Pearson Airport in Mississauga, at least for one airline.

German-based Condor Airlines, which also operates Condor America in the U.S. and Canada, recently introduced a fleet of new A330neo aircraft that not only reportedly offer passengers more comfort and convenience, but also a different look on the outside of the plane.

The new passenger jets, of which there are currently seven or so in the new long-haul fleet, feature a striped exterior design that comes in different colours including a “Beach” shade.

“The vibrant colours and striped livery will surely catch your eye as they grace our runways,” Pearson Airport officials said in a Twitter post on Wednesday.

In a news release this past spring, Condor officials said that the first “factory-new” A330neo aircraft took off on its maiden flight to the Indian Ocean at the end of 2022.

Since then, some six more of the new aircraft have taken to the skies around the world as the company says it’s adding a new aircraft to the fleet each month, on average, until 2024.

Among other features, airline officials say passengers will enjoy a more “spacious feel on their flights,” the latest in in-flight entertainment and, for the first time, on-board connectivity.

In addition, “the new aircraft all feature state-of-the-art engines from the manufacturer Rolls Royce, which are particularly efficient thanks to the latest technology and can be operated with sustainable aviation fuels. The aircraft also feature state-of-the-art flight and navigation systems that have been further developed especially for Condor to meet customer-specific requirements. This enables noise- and CO2-efficient approach and departure procedures, as well as a significant reduction in noise pollution of up to 60 per cent.”

For as many times as Condor aircraft may land and take off at Pearson, the reduction in noise pollution should be good news for thousands of people living near the airport who’ve been complaining for decades about aircraft noise.
