A unique space that combined a cafe and restaurant with a design business has now vacated its location in Toronto.

Central Market Cafe was located inside Central Design Market, but the business has now had to leave the address where they’ve been operating.

The store took to social media to announce the end of its time in that space.

“We have cherished our time here and the amazing people we have gotten to meet and know along the way. We will be cooking up some amazingly special burgers and some famous ginger spritzes featuring our house made spicy ginger syrup,” reads a post on social media from the business announcing the closure.

“Until we find our new home, keep following Central Design Market for some exciting new launches we have planned for this year.”

The post received a small but heartfelt response from people on Instagram, with one person saying the store will be “dearly missed”

“Sad about the news but also will keep following to see where you will be moving to. Fingers crossed still in the same neighborhood,” one person hoped in a comment.

Another commenter had a similar hope: “Friends – we are so sad you’re leaving. Hope you will stay in the hood!”

“Sad to hear,” another person mused in a comment on Instagram. “Beautiful place and hidden gem for a coffee chat / date / working.”

“Discover a curated collection of furniture and home décor, sourced from local artisans and designers. Our platform empowers you to connect directly with designers, explore their personalized storefronts, and find pieces that perfectly match your style,” reads the description of the business on their website online, which is still operating virtually. Sadly, Central Design Market has lost its special physical space, at least for now.

“But we’re more than just a marketplace. Our physical Design Market is a destination where you can immerse yourself in the world of design. Experience our furniture firsthand, enjoy a delicious coffee at our Mrkt Café, and connect with fellow design enthusiasts.”

The cafe within the market will be missed as much as the design space, especially if it’s not able to find a new spot.

“Our in-store experience extends beyond beautiful furniture to include our Mrkt Café, offering delicious food and beverages, and other unique features designed to enhance your everyday life,” Central Design Market’s website reads.

The last day for the business at 252 Adelaide St. W. was May 30.
