A top barbecue spot that’s popular for its traditional platters of smoked meats has announced that it has closed down.

Beach Hill Smokehouse is known for its barbecue across the city, and now one of the locations has closed its doors.

The restaurant, which boasts several locations across the city, specializes in Texas-style barbecue and serves a menu that includes pork ribs, beef brisket, butcher-crafted sausage, smoked chicken, burnt ends, pork rib tips, pork belly, pulled pork and beef ribs. The menu is rounded out by classic Southern barbecue sides with a twist, such as devilled egg potato salad, poblano coleslaw, smoked baked beans, loaded beans, cornbread and mac n’ cheese.

The restaurant took to social media to announce the closure of one of the locations and to give people an update on what’s going on with the business.

“We’ve been so grateful for every guest, every order, every kind word, and every BBQ memory shared with us by this community,” reads a post on social media from Beach Hill Smokehouse.

The post on Instagram has garnered around 250 likes and about two dozen comments from people who are sorry to see this particular Beach Hill Smokehouse location close its doors.

“Awwww dang, a fave for birthdays!” one person commented on Instagram.

“What?! Whyyyyy,” another person asked in a comment on Instagram. “I need to try y’all.”

“Wishing you all the best!!! I can’t wait to see you again!” someone else wrote in an Instagram comment.

Fortunately, no matter what area of Toronto you live in, there’s a silver lining: the resto’s fare will travel.

“Our BBQ journey will continue with our new FOOD TRUCK in the parks and on the street,” the post from Beach Hill Smokehouse continues.

“This is not goodbye. We’re excited to keep bringing the same smoky flavours, hearty comfort food, and warm hospitality to more places on the road.”

Diners were excited by the news.

“Will keep supporting you wherever y’all go!! Keep crushing it and stoked for the food truck,” someone commented on Instagram in response to the update about the truck.

There are also still Beach Hill Smokehouse locations at 620 Yonge St., 2190C Bloor W., and 172 Main St.

“Thank you for being part of our Bloor story since 2021,” the post on social media from Beach Hill Smokehouse concludes. “We can‘t wait to see you at the truck.”

The last day for Beach Hill Smokehouse at the Bloor location was May 24.
