There’s an everything-must-go sale on now in Brampton as RONA Home & Garden is clearing out its stock before closing up shop for good.

The sprawling home and garden centre located at 50 Gillingham Drive in Brampton will be closing permanently on Jan. 11, Insauga.com has learned.

Staff say the store is blowing out its inventory and has deals in every department with price markdowns between 35 and 60 per cent.

Some of the biggest deals are in the seasonal and flooring departments according to staff, who say the sale will continue until the anticipated closing date early next year.

“Following an in-depth analysis of our store network in Brampton where we had locations in close proximity, we have decided to consolidate our efforts on the stores that were in the best position to meet all the home improvement and construction needs of our customers,” RONA said in a statement to Insauga.com.

The closure comes after a series of ownership changes in recent years which saw the American-based Lowe’s first acquire the RONA brand. RONA says it will be consolidating operations at its Lowe’s locations in north and south Brampton, which will be under the RONA+ banner starting on Dec. 7.

RONA says the store-wide clearance will run until the closure of the Brampton location on Jan. 11.

As for staff at the Brampton location, the company also said it “will make every effort to relocate employees at surrounding stores whenever possible.”

RONA, which is based in Boucherville, Que., said in June that it was eliminating 500 jobs across Canada in a bid to simplify its organizational structure and adapt to a slowing economy.

The retailer says it operates or services around 425 corporate and affiliated stores under different banners across the country with some 22,000 employees.
