A restaurant that’s been recognized as one of the best in Toronto by several media outlets has announced that the space where it has been residing has suddenly been sold after just a few amazing years in operation.

Fall Bright Tavern has become known for its rustic but refined menu that always felt homey, and revolved around wholesome dishes like chicken sausage. The restaurant was also known for serving simple but amazing chocolate cake, and Fall Bright Tavern had recently started up a unique brunch service featuring ever-changing multi-course menus.

The operators of the restaurant took to social media to announce the news of the sudden change of hands of the space.

“In a surprising but very fantastic turn of events, we’ve sold our little restaurant and this Sunday will be our very last service with the new owners opening a brand new concept in the Fall Bright space,” reads a note on social media signed by Fall Bright Tavern operators Brett and Joe.

“It’s been a wild few years and we’re so very fortunate to have served so many wonderful regulars and worked along side the best team.”

The social media post has nearly 1,000 likes and over 100 comments on Instagram from people lamenting the restaurant’s short stint in business, with some commenters regretting that they hadn’t visited Fall Bright Tavern sooner, or more often. Also, that chocolate cake was so good that there are several comments dedicated solely to the dessert.

“Wait I’m SO SAD I NEVER GOT TO TRY UR CHOCOLATE CAKE,” one commenter wrote. “I thought I had longer.”

“Tell me there will be extra cake tomorrow,” another person commented. Someone else wrote in a comment, “Congratulations! But how will we get the chocolate cake!!?!?”

“Will miss Fall Bright and the sundaes! Can you keep the chocolate cake please?!” one commenter begged. “PLEASE.”

“The Fall Bright Tavern is a cozy neighbourhood spot at 840 Bloor Street West. We offer elevated comfort food crafted from local and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, all within our intimate setting in the heart of Bloordale,” reads the restaurant’s website.

“Our menu changes quite a bit as we love following the availability of the seasons and creating unpretentious dishes which inspire us and our guests. Enjoy our charming back patio, open seasonally, with a delightful view of the adjacent park.”

The new concept that is moving into the space has not yet been officially announced.

This past weekend was Fall Bright Tavern’s last.
