A butcher shop and pantry that was very popular with its local community has now sadly closed its doors.
King Street Pantry in St. Catharines sold a wide range of high quality items like meats, terrines, pates, pies and broths, and they also served a lunch menu with items like sandwiches and soups.
The shop didn’t open very long ago, but the business took to social media to let people know that they were already making the decision to shut it down.
“What started as a small idea grew into something truly special because of this community — the customers who chose to shop with intention, the farmers and producers who trusted us with their incredible products, and everyone who walked through our doors week after week. Running this shop has been one of the most challenging and rewarding chapters of our lives. We’ve learned so much, met so many wonderful people, and felt incredibly lucky to play even a small role in connecting our community with thoughtfully raised, high-quality food,” reads a social media post signed by operators Greg and Maeg.
“While this chapter is coming to a close, we’re excited for what lies ahead and the new opportunities on the horizon for the two of us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every visit, every conversation, every order, and every bit of encouragement along the way. It truly meant the world to us. One thing we hope continues long after our doors have closed is the commitment to supporting small farms and producers who are doing things the right way. Your choices as customers make a real difference for those farmers, their animals, and the future of our food system.”
