Police are appealing to public for witnesses and information related to a collision that left one person dead and three seriously injured in Etobicoke.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to the scene of a collision involving multiple vehicles on eastbound Highway 401 near Dixon Road at 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

OPP says a Ministry of Transportation truck was parked behind a disabled passenger vehicle when another passenger vehicle collided into them.

It says a person who was ejected from the second passenger vehicle was taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Investigators say three others including one from the disabled passenger vehicle, one from the truck, and one from the second passenger vehicle were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 19-year-old from Vaughan, Ont., who drove the second passenger vehicle, is facing dangerous driving charges, and police believe other vehicles may been involved in racing prior to the deadly crash.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

Eastbound Highway 401 is closed in the area.
