CLOSURE: Ontario icon for burgers and fries closes its last location

An Ontario food icon has closed its doors for good this week.

Lick’s, a locally famous spot for burgers and fries, used to dominate the province with dozens of locations throughout Ontario.

Famous for their cozy atmosphere and zany service — with staff often serenading patrons with songs — Lick’s maintained a healthy presence across southern Ontario towns and cities for well over 40 years.

Known for their ‘homeburgers,’ fries, mac and cheese and hot dogs, Lick’s was a staple for many growing up around southern Ontario.

However, as of this week, the final Lick’s location, which stood strong in Parry Sound, has shut its doors, ending a decades-long dynasty.

According to Google, the Georgian Bay Travel Centre Lick’s location reads as ‘permanently closed,’ signalling the end of an era.

No word has been relayed on what may be replacing the former comfort food giant.
