Drivers who rely on Burnhamthorpe Rd. in north Oakville will need to find an alternative route for a month beginning next Monday (Oct. 19).

A section of the road between Trafalgar Rd. and Ninth Line will be closed for construction work on the next phase of the William Halton Pkwy. project.

The closure of the three kilometre stretch of road could affect commuters in Oakville, Milton and Mississauga.

Motorists can follow designated detour routes and should expect delays when travelling through the area.

As part of the work, the speed limit on Trafalgar north of Burnhamthorpe to Highway 407 will be reduced to 60 km/h.

The work is expected to increase traffic on Ninth Line between Dundas St. and Lower Base Line.

The work is being carried out by Halton Region to extend William Halton Pkwy. from Bronte Rd. to Ninth Line.

Construction is expected to wrap up by November 20.
