A popular and acclaimed restaurant with a reputation for serving some of the finest Japanese cuisine in Toronto has suddenly announced that it will be closing its doors very soon.
Yukashi Japanese Cuisine is helmed by chef Daisuke Izutsu, who creates some of the most beautiful and stunningly presented plates of Japanese food in all of Toronto.
The Japanese restaurant serves multi-course seasonal menus at a cozy and intimate 10-seat counter, created using refined ingredients. The menu typically includes items such as sashimi, cooked fish, rice dishes and noodle dishes.
Now, Yukashi Japanese Cuisine has abruptly announced on social media that the restaurant will soon be shuttering its doors.
“Thank you for your support over the years,” reads a simple social media post from Yukashi Japanese Cuisine. “We invite you to join us for one last memorable evening.”

The post has nearly 200 likes and about a dozen heartfelt comments on Instagram from people who are sorry to see Yukashi Japanese Cuisine go, with one person commenting that it was one of the best restaurants they had ever been to.
“So sad to see your restaurant doors close… but what you created there was truly unforgettable. Your food, your precision, your generosity in service — it always left a mark. Not many can do that,” reads one particularly sentimental comment.
Others said they are excited for what the future holds.
“This isn’t an ending, it’s a transition. And knowing your talent, I have no doubt the next chapter will be just as powerful — if not more. Can’t wait to see what you do next.”
Others agreed.
“We’ve had some amazing memories there while living in Toronto which I will always cherish. You are so talented and I can’t wait to see what you do next. Wishing you the best always,” another person commented. “And I’ll never forget the time we talked about Japan, thought we were going at different times, but then bumped into each other at the airport in Tokyo! Such a small world.”
While it may be sad to bid farewell to Yukashi Japanese Cuisine as it is now, there may be a tiny bit of hope: the closure announcement post also reads “something new is coming” in very small letters. Hopefully that means fans of Yukashi’s Japanese cuisine creations will still be able to look forward to some very tasty eats from the team behind the restaurant that’s closing soon.
The last day open for Yukashi Japanese Cuisine on Mount Pleasant will be May 2.
