CLOSURE: Major Canadian clothing chain shuts down with a promise to return

Canadian fashion chain Frank and Oak has officially closed all 14 stores.

In April, the Superior Court of Quebec approved the sale of the Frank and Oak brand to Lamour Group and Thread Collective Inc.

This week, Frank and Oak said goodbye in a post on Instagram.

“We wanted to say one final thank you for everything and cannot overstate how truly grateful we are to have shared this time with you,” the post reads. “We have reached the end of this chapter, but the story of Frank And Oak is far from over.”

The company confirmed both the online and retail stores are now closed but they are planning a return in some form.

“…we are working hard with new partners to determine a better future for the brand, and we hope to come back stronger than ever,” the post reads. “As always, we will share news of our future plans with our community when the time is right, and appreciate your continued patience as we navigate the road ahead.”

According the Frank and Oak website, there were seven stores in Quebec, five in Ontario and two in Vancouver.

Locations in the GTA included stores in downtown Toronto, Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke and Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga. There was also a store in Hamilton.

Frank and Oak faced financial difficulties due to COVID-19 and supply chain problems, the company has said. The company filed for creditor protection under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act in December 2024 as it struggled with $71 million in debt.
