A delicious Korean restaurant that’s been in business for a dazzling 21 years in Toronto has announced it is sadly now closing its doors soon.
Cho Sun Ok has been family owned and operated since 2004, and is known for their stellar renditions of traditional Korean dishes such as naengmyun, jeongol, bulgogi, galbi and bibimbap. The restaurant also serves house made sausage and kimchi.
Now, the beloved old restaurant has taken to social media to let the community know that the doors of Cho Sun Ok will soon be shuttering.
“With our plaza set to be redeveloped into a new subway station, it’s time for us to say goodbye to this location,” the Korean restaurant Cho Sun Ok wrote in a post on social media announcing the closure.
“Thank you for your love and support over the past 21 years—it truly means everything to us.”
The social media post gained nearly 700 likes and 1oo comments on Instagram within just a day of being posted.
One person simply commented that they’ll miss “the best cold noods.” Another person wrote in a comment that Cho Sun Ok is “my favourite restaurant in GTA and I love your kimchi, everytime I visit it feels like coming home.”
“Our family’s favourite restaurant for the last 20 years,” one person commented.
“So sad,” someone else wrote. “Will we be able to buy your kimchi in the mean time at grocery stores?”
“Oh no,” another person wrote in a sad and heartfelt comment on Instagram. “Our family have been going since the very beginning. My son was just a baby.”
Thankfully for fans of Cho Sun Ok, the restaurant looks as though it’s probably not shutting down for good, just at its current address.
“We’re very close to announcing our relocation plans, so please stay tuned. Once again, thank you, and we look forward to seeing you again soon,” reads the closing post from Cho Sun Ok.

Some people commenting on the closure announcement post on Instagram have suggested various other places where they hope Cho Sun Ok might reopen, like Markham or Richmond Hill. Either way, most of the comments on the post have the same thing in common, which is that people can’t wait to hear about where the new location of Cho Sun Ok might be whenever it is announced.
The last day in business for Cho Sun Ok at their current location will be April 27.
