An Italian restaurant that’s been operating for almost 15 years in Toronto has just closed down, and it’s already transforming into something else.
Modus Ristorante has been serving Italian fine dining cuisine for 15 years, and now the family behind the restaurant is taking the concept into the future with a major transformation for the space.
Handmade pastas, premium cuts of meat, and a thoughtfully curated wine list have always been at the forefront of what Modus Ristorante does. Now, though the old concept may have closed, there’s a fresh new one that’s ready to take its place.
The restaurant was founded by Sam Genkov all the way back in 2011, and now his daughter Victoria Genkov is ready to take the reins and turn it into something that’s ready for the future.
Modus Ristorante has built its reputation on a traditional menu of classics that include options such as beef carpaccio and meatballs, plus a wide variety of pastas, seafood, meats and sides.
The restaurant also served an Amalfi Coast tasting menu that was only available on certain days of the week.
While the restaurant space may be saying goodbye to the name Modus Ristorante and will be getting a younger, fresher perspective with a totally different rehauled look, there should still be some select elements from the old Modus Ristorante that regulars may be able to recognize even once the major transformation is complete.
“This is not a goodbye, it’s an evolution,” says founder Sam Genkov. “We’re creating something fresh and exciting for the Financial District, with a modern perspective, renewed design and elevated guest experience, while preserving some of the elements our guests have loved about Modus over the years.”
Updates have not yet been provided as to further details about the name, concept, space and opening date for the new project in the Modus Ristorante space.
“With two exquisite private dining rooms, we cater to corporate events and special occasions, ensuring every meal is memorable. Our diverse wine cellar complements our carefully curated menu, while our vibrant bar and lounge offer a welcoming space to unwind. Whether you choose to dine indoors or enjoy al fresco dining on our spacious patio, Modus Ristorante is dedicated to providing a truly unforgettable experience,” reads the official website for Modus Ristorante.
The last day for Modus Ristorante was June 2.
