Update: At 12:30 p.m. OPP said all eastbound lanes of Highway 401 had reopened.
Original story follows.
A portion of Highway 4o1 is closed after two transport trucks collided near Kingston Friday morning.
The collision happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Gardiners Road in Kingston just before 6 a.m., OPP said in a post on X.
Minor injuries were reported, but the highway was shut down for the clean-up, police said.
The eastbound lanes were closed at County Road 6 in Odessa with traffic being rerouted to the emergency detour route.
In an update around 8:30 a.m., police said the eastbound lanes remained closed and westbound traffic was slow in the area due to volume and people taking a “long look at the collision scene.”
Police asked drivers to keep their eyes on the road and put down their phones.
“A reminder — using your phone to shoot video while driving can result in a distracted driving charge,” police said.
