CLOSURE: Entire chain restaurant shutting down all locations in Canada

A chain of restaurants for Southeast-Asian-inspired food has announced they’re officially closing down every single last one of their locations all across Canada.

Basil Box has been in business for over a decade in Canada, and operates several locations in Ontario. Now, they’ve taken to social media to let people know they’ll soon no longer be able to pick up their Southeast-Asian-inspired favourites from locations of the Basil Box chain.

“It’s hard to put into words what the past 11 years have meant to us,” reads a post from Basil Box on social media.

What started as a small idea in 2015 became something much bigger—thanks to our team, and all of you who supported us along the way. We’d truly love to see you before we close. Come by, say hi, and enjoy your favourites one last time. Thank you for being part of this with us.”

The post received nearly 200 likes on Instagram within just about an hour of going live, and over 50 comments.

“This is such sad news. My kids love Basil Box and will miss it,” one person wrote in a comment on Instagram.

“Sad times,” another person commented, saying they “really loved your lemongrass chicken.”

“This is actually my worst nightmare,” someone else commented on Instagram dramatically. “My heart is broken.”

“What a great brand and great food! Will miss seeing this brand on the street fronts,” one other commenter wrote.

Another commenter wrote that they’re “so sad to be hearing this” and that they plan on picking up food from Basil Box every single day until they close.

The last day in business for all Basil Box locations in Canada will be May 14.
