A coffee shop in a busy Mississauga shopping centre has closed.
The Second Cup Coffee Co. at Heartland Town Centre has permanently closed.
“We’re saddened to share that the Heartland Second Cup café has made the difficult decision to close its doors permanently,” Second Cup’s head office said in an email. “This was not a decision taken lightly. As each of our locations is independently owned and operated by passionate franchise partners, this choice reflects many factors unique to that specific café.”
The coffee shop’s last day was April 25, according to a post on Google.
Customers commented on the closure on Reddit.
“I’m actually really sad about it,” the Reddit poster wrote.
“No way! I work around the corner and love getting my coffee from there,” another person wrote.

A Heartland Town Centre representative said they could not comment on what will open in the now vacant space.
Second Cup’s started as a kiosk in a Toronto shopping mall in August 1975, the company says.
Throughout the late 1980s, the chain experienced rapid growth. By 1989, Second Cup had approximately 130 cafés, with shopping malls and office tower locations.
There are four other Second Cup locations in Mississauga, including at 4553 Hurontario St. (south of Eglinton), 5770 Hurontario St. (south of Britania), 727 Central Parkway W. (at Mavis), and 4100 Living Arts Dr.
