CLOSURE: Beloved stores closing permanently in Mississauga

A home-grown jewelry store is closing both of its Mississauga stores.
Catalyst & Co., a Mississauga-based business, announced they are closing both the Square One and Streetsville locations.
The business started nine years ago as a small market jewelry booth and evolved into multiple boutiques. It operated a smaller location at Square One before moving into a bigger store in 2022.
The stores sell a variety of jewelry, including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, as well as a wide selection of crystals and gemstones: Amethyst, emerald, garnet, obsidian, opal, and quartz, to name just a few.
Both locations at 228 Queen St. S. and the shop in Square One are closing in the coming weeks, the business announced in a post on Instagram.
“All good things come to an end.,” Catalyst & Co. wrote on Instagram. “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce Catalyst is closing. Thank you so much for all the love and support you have shown us over the last 9 years, it has been a true pleasure.”

The business did not provide a reason for the closure but hinted it is a tough time for small business owners.
“It is no secret that times are changing, and every day small businesses are announcing closures,” Catalyst & Co. wrote. “We encourage you to continue to shop small and support local businesses in your communities, whenever you can.”
Several people expressed sadness over the closure.
“heartbroken, loved supporting a Canadian store, not the news I was expecting,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“My heart goes out to all of you, this is very sad indeed,” another person wrote. “You’ve touched and inspired so many people. People who will always remember your impact and positivity and forever enjoy the pieces in their collections curated by your team including myself. I’m wishing you all the best.”
The last day at Square One is June 10, the last day in Streetsville is July 26 and the website shop will close on July 24.
Until the closures, Catalyst & Co. is holding sales starting at 20 per cent off and increasing discounts as the closure dates get closer.
