All lanes on the QEW were closed Friday morning due to a crash in Beamsville.

A rollover involving a fuel tanker truck on the QEW closed the highway in both directions this morning (Jan. 12), the OPP said on X.

There are no reports of serious injuries, the OPP said.

The QEW is closed in both directions between Ontario Street Beamsville and Victoria Avenue, police said.

Police are investigating reports of an aggressive driver that failed to remain prior to the collision

OPP said the closure will remain in place for several hours.

Expect delays and avoid the area if possible.

Update: At 10:17 a.m. OPP said the QEW Toronto-bound lanes reopened between Tufford Access Road to Ontario Street but the Fort Erie-bound lanes remain closed.

Update 2: In an update, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the crash happened at 8 a.m. when an aggressive driver of a black Mercedes allegedly cut off another vehicle. That car struck the tanker truck cab and both went into the ditch.

The Mercedes driver allegedly fled from the accident scene.

Fuel and diesel has spilled out of the tank next to neighbouring farms.

Schmidt said OPP will re-open the Niagara-bound QEW shortly.

Then there will be another shut down of the highway on Saturday to complete the clean-up.

Police continue to look for the driver of the black Mercedes.
