A Toronto steakhouse that dates back to 1964 recently announced that it has closed for good.

Recently, the team behind a long-standing steakhouse in Etobicoke shared a brief message on social media informing diners that they are closed and are grateful to staff and patrons for years of support.

Black Angus Steakhouse, which initially opened on Bloor Street West over 60 years ago and eventually moved to a larger space in the Islington and Bloor Area, was known for its wide array of high-end steaks, tableside Caesar salad, fresh pasta, and more.

“Black Angus Steakhouse has closed permanently. We are grateful to our guests, staff, and community for the memories shared over the years. Thank you,” operators wrote on social media.

The fine dining restaurant boasted an extensive wine list and cocktail menu, but was–as the name would suggest–a destination for diners in search of quality beef.

The steak menu included Canadian-sourced striploins and ribeyes from Guelph and Alberta, as well as a 50-ounce Black Angus tomahawk from High River that cost (according to the restaurant’s website) $230. The restaurant also offered wagyu steaks sourced from Japan and Australia.

“Thank you for being part of our story,” operators wrote on social media.
