Clocks go back this weekend

This weekend marks the end of daylight savings time.

That coveted hour that we begrudgingly give up in the spring is about to return to us; the clocks go back an hour this weekend.

While this news may incite fantasies of sleeping in and waking up feeling rested, studies have shown many people actually stay up much later than they normally would to compensate, and thus don’t experience any benefits from the change.

Fortunately, now that nearly everyone has a smartphone, or a smart-home device, there’s not that much you need to do to prepare—your device will most likely change the time for you.

However, if, for whatever reason, you do still have an old-school analog clock, you’ll need to turn it back an hour at 2 a.m. (if you’re not awake you can do it in the morning… as long as you don’t have an early appointment to get to).

Additionally, many fire departments are reminding residents to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, which should be done every year.
