Clarington to open first cricket pitch Friday

There will be no more sticky wickets in Clarington when the municipality officially opens its first cricket pitch Friday.
The pitch, located at Courtice Memorial Park, was developed in partnership with local cricket clubs.
As part of the grand opening ceremony, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster and members of Council will host a ribbon cutting, followed by a demonstration of how to play the game for council members and onlookers. If there is a councillor or two looking to try their hands at one of the GTA’s fastest-growing sports, coaching will be available from some of the local athletes.
The ribbon-cutting will take place August 4 at 9:30 a.m.
