A Clarington teenager has been charged with impaired driving after a collision in Bowmanville in April that sent six youths to hospital, including two seriously.
Durham Regional Police responded to the collision just after 11 p.m. on April 15 on Longworth Avenue near Jackman Road. Police said a Volkswagen hatchback was travelling westbound when it collided with an eastbound Ford SUV.
Four of the injured teens were taken to Bowmanville hospital with minor injuries, with two and transported to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries.
Following an investigation by the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit, the driver of the Volkswagen, a 17-year-old, has been arrested and charged impaired operation causing bodily harm and three counts of exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
He was released on an Undertaking.
