The Municipality of Clarington is acknowledging to residents that the clean-up from Monday’s record-breaking storm is taking longer than expected.

With most roads in Clarington in good condition crews are preparing to transition to snow removal in downtown Bowmanville.

“That work will start on Friday at 2 a.m. with all staff working,” the Municipality said in a statement. “Roads in downtown Bowmanville will be closed overnight to help this work along. Snow removal in Orono and Newcastle downtowns will be scheduled early next week. Meantime, snow removal in courts and cul-de-sacs will start Friday and continue next week.”

In the meantime, private contractors will continue to work on sidewalk snow clearing and seniors’ snow clearing program.

“We want to thank our residents for your patience and understanding as we continue to deal with the ramifications of this large storm.”
