Clarington reports five new COVID-19 cases with one resident in ICU

A mini COVID-19 outbreak in Clarington yesterday has led to five new cases, with two people hospitalized and one in intensive care. The total number of new cases in Durham Region from Thursday is eleven.

Whitby reported three new cases of the virus, with one each from Ajax and Oshawa. One case was no fixed address. Whitby, along with the three, mostly rural northern communities, reported zero new cases.

The number of active cases in Durham rose slightly to 48.

Long-term care homes in the region remain COVID-free and there is but one student at a Durham school home self-isolating. There is still one outbreak at a corporate or office environment.
