Schools may be closed in Clarington again on Monday but camp – as the School’s Out Day Camp – will be open for fun, games, crafts, activities and more.

The municipality is offering the day camp at Courtice Arena for $41.65 per day, for as long as the education workers walkout lasts, providing venue space and staff availability allows.

The goal, according to press release from Town Hall, is to help families who are unable to find alternate arrangements for their children during the school closures.

The camps are open to children aged four to 12 (and those who are turning four by December 31) and will run from 9 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. with flexible drop-off and pick-up from 8:30-9 and from 4:30-5. Registration for the camp is required and you must register for each camp day individually.

(Government-issued photo ID will be needed to pick up camp participants, and it must match one of the authorized persons listed at the time of registration.)

Participants should pack a nut-free lunch, bring extra drinks and dress appropriately, as some activities may take place outside.

Registration fees will be refunded if schools reopen to in-person or online learning before camp begins.
