Herbert Ward of Kendal was struck by the LIGHTNING LOTTO jackpot on May 30, a prize worth $423,076.60.

Ward said he has been a regular lottery player for 20 years. “My favourite games are LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49 and I like to play LIGHTNING LOTTO when the jackpot is high,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

The 71-year-old retiree initially thought he won a free play. “When the clerk showed me the validation slip with my prize amount, it was unbelievable. This will make a big difference for me,” he said, adding he plans to share his win with some special people in his life who could really use it. “It will make a difference for them too.”

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. We strongly encourage those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them in. Submitting claims online is fast and secure. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options.

LIGHTNING LOTTO players can win a jackpot on the spot. Match all five numbers in any one line on your LIGHTNING LOTTO ticket with those drawn earlier that day to win the jackpot. The top prize starts at $125,000 and grows with ticket sales. Each $2 Quick Pick consists of three lines of five numbers from 1 to 49. LIGHTNING LOTTO is available exclusively at lottery retailers. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.47. For more information on How to Play as well as full prize details and odds of winning, visit OLG.ca.
