Clarington Council raised a flag Tuesday to launch the We Care We Can Awareness Month, which highlights efforts to raise money for the Bowmanville Hospital expansion and re-development.

The campaign has several events planned, including a CN Tower climb, photography mini-sessions and a family pizza night, with the wrap scheduled for June 27 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The long-awaited re-development of the hospital got a big boost mid-March when the Province expedited the expansion by moving the project to Stage 2 of the planning process, which puts shovels in the ground by early 2025.

The re-development, which will include a mix of new construction (such as a new emergency department) and major renovations and include a new helipad, is expected to more than double the size of the facility.
