City of Hamilton contractor doing in-home water meter replacements tests positive for COVID-19

A City of Hamilton contractor who conducted in-home water meter replacements has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a press release issued Thursday morning (March 25), the contractor received the positive test result late Wednesday afternoon and currently self-isolating.

The contractor was completing in-home water meter replacements during the week of March 15 to 19, 2021 at homes in Dundas, Greensville and West Hamilton and visited seven to nine homes per day.

“Although the contractor was wearing an N-95 mask and other appropriate personal protective equipment while inside residents’ homes, the City is advising residents out of an abundance of caution,” the release said.

The City said the contractor’s local public health unit, which was undisclosed, is completing contact tracing.
