The City of Burlington recently announced that they will now be accepting electronic applications for building permits.

This new feature, meant to enhance customer service, will also help to reduce the City’s carbon footprint by limiting the amount of printing and paper required for these applications.

It will also make it easier for residents to submit applications since it will be less time-consuming.

“This is great news for our City and was one of the goals of the Red Tape Red Carpet Task Force,” said Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

“Enhancing the building permit applications through an online, more user-friendly and efficient process will help make things easier for our community and the industry; as well, it will help people get started on their projects faster.”

According to the city, applications that were processed before July 5, 2021, will continue being processed in a hard copy format unless otherwise directed by Building and Bylaw Department staff.

For more information, or to submit a permit application, visit burlington.ca/building.

Residents who are unable to submit the application electronically, are advised to contact the Building and Bylaw Department team at 905-335-7731, ext. 7470 or [email protected].
