The City of Burlington has installed new banners for Pride Month to recognize and celebrate the City’s LGBTQ2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, TwoSpirit) community.

Pride Month, which takes place in June, is a time meant to celebrate the diversity in the LGBTQ2S+ communities, as well as acknowledge their history and the hardships they have endured.

The banners installed along Brant St. from Fairview St. to Ghent Ave. were designed in consultation with representatives from the LGBTQ2S+ community and are part of the City’s Pride recognition along with the four Rainbow Crosswalks installed around the City.

The four Rainbow Crosswalks are located at Lakeshore Rd. at Burlington Ave., Upper Middle Rd. at M.M. Robinson school entrance, Fairview St. and Drury Lane and Plains Rd. West and Botanical Dr., with the first one having been installed and unveiled in June 2020.

Additionally, the City’s Street Banner Program will include Pride rainbow-themed banners along other major streets in Burlington. The rainbow crosswalks and banners will be key landmarks both geographically and socially for the City.
