The City of Brampton has developed a strategy to revitalize their older community centres, beginning with Balmoral, Howden and Chris Gibson Recreation Centres.

Highlights of the City’s renewal strategy include the construction of a new Howden Community Centre, the expansion and renovation of Balmoral Recreation Centre and the expansion of Chris Gibson Recreation Centre, including twining the existing ice rink.

Brampton’s Soccer Centre will also be receiving enhancements to support winter play.

These enhancements include the Dome Turf Project which will include two lit, FIFA-sized, artificial turf playing fields and one of the pitches will be augmented with an air-supported fabric structure (‘bubble’) to support winter play.

Additionally, it will include the addition of a pavilion equipped with washrooms and changerooms and associated park improvements to fencing and recreational trails.

Enhancements to the outdoor sports fields and installation of the dome at the Brampton Soccer Centre are anticipated to open to the public in Fall 2020/January 2021 pending COVID-19 restrictions.
