Cineplex reopening cinemas in Brampton, Mississauga, Hamilton, Halton, and Ontario starting next week

Cineplex has announced, with Ontario entering Step 3 of the Province’s reopening framework on Friday (July 16) at midnight, its Ontario cinemas will also be opening that weekend.

As of July 16, Cineplex will be reopening as many of its 68 theatres across Ontario as possible at 50 per cent capacity or up to 1,000 guests, as per provincial regulations.

Additionally, other Cineplex entertainment venues, including its locations of The Rec Room and Playdium, will also reopen with physical distancing to a maximum of 1,000 guests per building indoors and 75 per cent capacity outdoors on patios.

As of reopening night, Cineplex will be playing several recently released blockbuster films, including Black WidowF9 The Fast SagaSpace Jam: A New Legacy, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, among others.

Tickets will be available online and through the Cineplex app as of Wednesday.

“Our team has been waiting for this day and are thrilled that next week we will finally be able to reopen our doors in Ontario,” Ellis Jacob, president and CEO, Cineplex, said in a news release.

“We can now enjoy movies the way that they’re meant to be seen, with Cineplex providing the escape of the big screen and big sound that we have all been missing for so long,” he continued.
