Cineplex popcorn comes a lot cheaper through new offer in Canada

There’s a new way to get Cineplex popcorn for much cheaper than usual.

The food surplus platform Too Good To Go announced in a press release on Wednesday that it has partnered with the movie theatre chain, “bringing fan-favourite concessions straight to consumers’ fingertips, while diverting good food from going to waste.”

Participating Cineplex theatres across Canada offer two surprise bag options on the Too Good To Go app, which are sold exclusively as takeout:

• The popcorn surprise bag, which features Cineplex’s iconic popcorn. (Costs $5.99; up to $18 retail value)
• The concession surprise bag, which has a variety mix that may include a combination of popcorn, nachos and hot dogs. (Costs $8.99; up to $27 retail value)

“By teaming up with Too Good To Go, we’re giving Canadians a whole new way to enjoy our iconic treats,” said Cineplex’s Kevin Watts.

“They can pick-up a surprise bag of snacks from Cineplex and enjoy it wherever the day takes them — all while ensuring our  surplus items are fully enjoyed.”

To take advantage of the new offer, customers can open the To Good To Go app, find a nearby participating Cineplex theatre, and reserve the surprise bag of their choice.

The bag can then be picked up during the designated window.

“This partnership not only allows Canadians to access their favourite Cineplex concession snacks at a greater value, but it’s another great example of how businesses can meet evolving consumer needs while taking meaningful action on food waste,” said Chris MacAulay, the vice president of operations for To Good To Go North America.
