Christmas tree curbside pick up starts next week in Mississauga and Brampton.

The Region of Peel will pick up real Christmas trees and wreaths put on the curb on select days from Jan. 9 to 19. Residents should check the collection calendar for their tree pickup day.

People must remove all decorations before setting out  the tree for collection. Real wreaths should be put on the curb for collection on the same day as the Christmas tree.

The tree won’t be collected if it is taller than three metres (10 feet); it is in a plastic bag; still decorated with tinsel, ornaments or both; or if it is placed on or in a snowbank.

Apartment or condo residents should put their Christmas trees at the curb by the driveway entrance of the property. But be sure your tree doesn’t obstruct the road or sidewalk.

Those with trees taller than three metres, drop your tree off at a Peel Community Recycling Centre. Trees taller than three metres must be cut in half to be accepted.

And remove all tinsel, ornaments, plastic bags, nails, wires and tree stands from the tree before bringing it to a centre.
