Christmas has come early for a Hamilton family who is celebrating a winning $250,000 prize on a holiday-themed scratch ticket.

Justin Szajnowski of Hamilton is $250,000 richer after recently winning the top prize on the Instant Merry & Bright game.

Szajnowski, a small business owner, said in an OLG press release that he loves to play Proline regularly and occasionally plays Instant games.

“I saw something different at the store and decided to give it a try,” he said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

The married 41-year-old was finishing his coffee Halloween morning when he decided to play his ticket.

“I noticed the win when I matched the number 35 and revealed the prize amount,” Szajnowski recalls. “I was shocked!”

He checked the ticket using the OLG App with his wife. ”

We were hooting and hollering enough to attract the attention of our daughter who came to see what was going on,” he said.

“It was pretty crazy!”

As for what the Szajnowski family plans to do with this early Christmas present, it seems they’re going to make some dreams come true.

“I never thought it would be me winning the lottery,” he said.

“Each step has felt more real. The first thing I want to do is give my wife her dream master bathroom. Then we will make some more decisions.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Rockland Variety on Rymal Road.
