Insignia™ Multi-Function Pressure Cookers

Insignia™ 6 QT Digital Pressure Cooker - Stainless Steel7

This recall pertains to Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers featuring a 6 Quart or 8 Quart cooking capacity, 120V operation, and branded “INSIGNIA” on the front of the cooker and the permanent label.

The black inner cooking pots have non-stick coating, embossed markings for cup and litre measurements. Consumers are urged to ensure the inner pot isn’t filled beyond two-thirds capacity during pressure cooking. Users should make sure the lid is securely locked in place, and wait for the floating locking valve to drop before attempting to open the lid.

However, Health Canada says, the problem lies in the pressure cooker’s inaccurate volume markings on the inner pot. This can lead consumers to overfill the pot, resulting in the potential ejection of hot foods and liquids if the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while the contents are pressurized.

The following models are being recalled:

  • NS-MC60SS9-C
  • NS-MC80SS9-C

The company reported that approximately 10,155 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between October 2017 to June 2023.
