After being put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Milton Annual Children’s Fishing Derby is officially making a comeback later this month.

The event is being hosted by the Halton Sportsmen’s Association, a not-for-profit sportsman club that has had roots in the Milton community for over 50 years.

This year’s fishing derby will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Mill Pond between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Through the support of the community, sponsors and supporters, the club has traditionally been able to stock the pond with approximately 1,000 rainbow trout.

This allows children and their families to experience a fun day of fishing in the city.

Additionally, all participants 12 years of age and under will be receiving a free hot dog and drink, along with a chance to win prizes through a variety of draws.

“We look forward to seeing you on April 23rd and wish you good fishing,” reads the event page on the Town of Milton’s website.
